Brighton Unsigned

Brighton Unsigned is a free magazine, starting the first issue back in October 2011. Going from strength-to-strength, the magazine finds the latest talents of the Brighton underground music scene. With a wide variety of bands and artists on offer in Brighton, Brighton Unsigned has a team of writers who finds EPs, albums and live performances to review, offering positive coverage to those who are most deserving. To add on, the magazine also has one feature cover band each month, with a new photoshoot and interview to promote and give the reader more in depth on what it is like to be a band in Brighton.

Successful coverage involves a feature covered band (MyElement – December issue) being offered their own headlining slot at Concorde 2 after being read about in Brighton Unsigned magazine. Also, we had Mark Chadwick (Levellers) jumping on the bandwagon with an interview involving insightful stories and advice of being a successful band, based in Brighton (March issue). Already, Brighton Unsigned has gained partnership with promotional and production companies to work together in achieving successful coverage of Brighton’s music. Not to mention, the magazine has already got word about, with the local public wanting to know what is going on and who is about in their area.

To gain further coverage, Brighton Unsigned holds a monthly gig at Latest Music Bar, with four to five bands/artists who has been covered in that month’s magazine or previously, all playing a set of their music to give the taste of what’s on, now. Brighton Unsigned is a not-for-profit magazine with all advertising and gig entry fees going straight to printing costs.
